The Sentinel Cottage is a purpose-built, portable building that allows families from their own 'safe bubble' to sit in one room and visit with their loved one located in their 'safe-bubble' in the adjoining room.
Intended for all-weather visitations, the self-contained Sentinel Cottage is easily delivered and quickly set-up at long-term care homes. A pair of environmentally controlled rooms separated by a floor-to-ceiling clear glass wall provides an easily sanitized, warm and welcoming environment in which families can safely visit again with their loved ones.
An optional Security Access Panel provides good communication between the visiting party and the facility operator. Depending on the options chosen, features can include: a remote video doorbell system, a wave-to-open automatic door switch, and a security card-lock system for staff access.
Optional, flexible, reach-through gloves with disposable inserts mean loved ones can safely hold hands again without breaking their bubbles.
Accessibility features include wide ramps, decks, and doors to allow for wheelchair and scooter manoeuverability. These can be further enhanced with grip-texture surfaces and durable visibility strips to mark surface transitions.
Individual HEPA air filtration systems can be included to ensure clean, protected air quality for each room. These further enhance the safety of others entering the room after a visit concludes to provide cleaning or set-up services.
Bright and light with easy-to-sanitize surfaces, the cottage facilitates meaningful visits in a private setting. The large window partition gives clear views of faces, expressions, and body language, while the hands-free audio system allows for normal conversations.
A standard in-wall heater provides warmth on cool evenings and winter days or enjoy enhanced comfort with an optional automated ultra-quiet, all-season heating and air conditioning system.
Designed to the Canadian National Building Code to allow for installation anywhere in Canada, Sentinel Cottages include all-metal construction and are powder-coated to ensure a robust, rust-free building that will provide value and long service life. The exterior low maintenance design provides a welcoming and non-threatening lake-cottage look that fits in with almost all urban and rural settings.
Accessibility, safety and comfort are priorities in the standard features of each Sentinel Cottage. Wide, low-sloped access ramps and covered entrance decks provide easy access while extra-wide entrance doors allow ample room for wheelchairs or mobility scooters to pass through.
A large, clear floor-to-ceiling interior window, along with an exceptional hands-free audio system, bright exterior windows for natural light, and easy-to-clean neutral-coloured floors and walls provide a warm and inviting setting for each visit. It's like having an informal get-together in a family living room.
Depending on Public Health Orders, the visitors' room comfortably allows for up to five or six members from the same household or 'safe bubble' to visit with their loved one who sits in the adjoining room. Based upon who's present, the environmentally separated rooms may allow for the choice of visiting without the use of special personal protective equipment (like masks) so that facial recognition, emotional expressions, and body language are clear and easy to read. Isolated seniors can finally visit with their loved ones again - including little grandchildren - in happy and safe surroundings.
The standard features of the Sentinel Cottage can be further enhanced with a number of custom options to provide for any facility's requirements:
